THS4042: 100mA current output at 9V supply voltage?

Part Number: THS4042
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4041-Q1, , LMH6642Q-Q1, LMH6643Q-Q1

Hello,

we are running our circuit with 9V supply voltage.

Regarding the data sheet of the THS4042 typ. I out at +-5V is 65mA.

Is this value for both amplifier stages or is every stage able to deliver 65 mA (130 mA total)?

I´m searching for an automotive certified operational amplifier which can deliver at least 80 mA min. with 9V supply voltage.

If the THS4042 is not able to deliver this can you please suggest another amplifier?

Best regards,

Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

The Iout of 65mA is for a single stage of THS4042, or each channel. If you run both amplifiers in parallel, you can create an amplifier with slightly less than a 130mA total output current, since you are using 9V supply instead of 10V. The automotive certified version of this part is the THS4041-Q1, which is available in single channel.

Are you looking for a dual channel amplifier, or a single channel amplifier as an automotive qualified version? For a dual channel amplifier, you could use the LMH6643Q-Q1 operating on 9V supply with linear Iout of +/-75mA, and short-circuit Iout of upto 115mA. The single channel amplifier is the LMH6642Q-Q1 with similar Iout specifications operating on 9V supply. Both these parts are slightly lower in BW compared to the THS4041-Q1. If that is not acceptable, then please let us know the BW requirement of your system and we can suggest an alternative part.

    Best regards,

    Sean
