TLV2374: feeding negative supply voltage to TLV2374

Expert 1105 points
Part Number: TLV2374

In the "typical applications" part of the TLV237x datasheet, it is said that minus voltages are allowed.

The pinout however simply says "GND"   for negative power supply input, is there a reason for this?

thanks

  • Rifo,

Naming the negative supply as ground was common in 2001. This is a helpful as device with a GND pin should have valid input and output near ground. Meaning it works well with a single supply.

All op amps work with dual supplies as the op amp doesn't know what node in the application is called ground. By the same logic, all op amps work with a single supply. The exception would be an op amp with 3 power pins.
