LM393-N: Input voltage level

Part Number: LM393-N

Hi Sirs,

As title, because we have the opportunity to  have +/- 500mV voltage level on input pin.

We have use and saw LM393DR

Recommended Operating Conditions is 0 to (V+)-1.5v.

Absolute Maximum Ratings is -0.3 to 36v

Looks it's not meet spec.

Unfortunately I don't find other solution can do it.

Could you help double confirm if i missed?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello Shu-Cheng,

The -500mV would be violating the Absolute Maximum input specification. Pulling the input pin below GND can cause false triggers or latch-ups.

It may be possible to clamp the negative portion with a Schottky diode and a series resistor.

Because comparators do not need absolute voltages, just relative voltage levels, it may be possible to level shift the input using a resistor network.

    Can you provide a schematic?
