PGA112: PGA112 SPI Communication

Part Number: PGA112

Hi TI team~

As far as I know, the PGA112 device doesn't offer a SPI interface with daisy-chain.

But I would like to use SPI communications to work with several PGA112 devices together.

These can be used common SPI interface? and can be used separated CS signal?

If it is possible how many devices can be used together?

  • Hi Mason,
I believe this approach should work, as long as only one CS line is used at a time. The PGA112 DIO pin should go high-z when CS is high.
One limitation to be aware of is that the DIO pins have 10µA pulldowns, which will begin to add up as more and more PGA112s are paralleled. We don't list a maximum DIO output current (in DO mode), but the Digital Output High and Low level specs list 3mA as a test condition, so it's probably best to remain within that limit. You'll also have to ensure that your microcontroller can source sufficient current to drive the data line high. This likely isn't a huge concern; after all, that 3mA limit would be equal to 300 PGA112s.
