LMC6062: Problem about LMC6062 instead of LM358

Part Number: LMC6062
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM358,

Dear TI Sir :

My customer designed a LM358 circuit.

He found LMC6062 pin to pin LM358.

He use LMC6062 instead of LM358 then PCB is broken.

My customer would like to know , LMC6062 can onstead of LM358 or not.

Thank you.

  • Hi Terry,

this cannot be said without knowing the circuit. Can you show us a schematic?

  • Hi Terry,

The LMC6062 and LM358 8-pin SOIC and PDIP pin layouts are compatible. Electrically, the LMC6062 is a precision op amp having very low voltage offset and ultra-low input bias current, while the LM358 is a general purpose op amp. However, the big difference is their operating supply ranges. The LMC6062 is rated for 4.5 to 15.5 V, while the LM358 is rated for 3 to 32 V. That is something that would need to be checked first thing.

Then, one would need to consider each of the electrical parameters that are critical in the application and see if the LMC6062 is capable of meeting those requirements.
