I was searching for a power amplifier which can take the input from 0 to 10 dbm and give the output of 25dbm in the frequency range of 145 MHz, I came across this ic of THS9001, i have gone through the datasheet, there its power efficiency was not mentioned so could you please help me with that. And apart from this any other ic from TI can you suggest for the purpose mentioned above.

    Hi Chaitanya,

    I don't think the THS9001 can achieve 25dBm (RL = 50-ohms) output because it starts reaching 1-dB compression point at around 20.6 dBm. Other devices with similar architecture can be found here, but I don't think any of the other devices would be able to support 25-dBm output power: www.ti.com/.../products.html

    Since the frequency is only 145MHz, would it be possible for you to implement the same using an op-amp? I think the THS3491 should be able to achieve 25-dBm output with 50-ohm load at 145MHz. Its output is Class AB, so about 50-60% of power efficiency while delivering the output power.
