TLV27L1: Supply current of TLV27L1 with Vdd = 12V versus load resistance when opamp output is between 2V to 4V.

Hello,

I am trying to figure out the power supply current of TLV27L1 op-amp with Vdd = 12V as a function of load resistance. The Output voltage of the opamp across the load will be anywhere between 2V to 4V.

I would like to keep the supply current below 15uA for my chosen load resistance.

I would appreciate any help.

Hi Nitish,

After bench characterization at ambient temperature, the supply current Icc=12.5uA and Iee=7uA and do not change as the load resistance changes when Vdd=12V and Vout=3V.

This doesn't necessarily represent all parts at all temperatures. Corner cases could be slightly different.

Hi Mamadou,
Thank you for responding to my question. I do not understand why the supply current woudln't change when the load current changes.
If the load current increases, where will that increased current get supplied from?

Hi Nitish,

Thanks for the follow up question.
To clarify, the supply current (quiescent) does not change regardless of the changes of the load current.
The current flowing from the positive supply to your load will depend on the load that you have at the output of the amplifier and the current from your load to the negative supply will be dependent on each other.

Supply current with load is quiescent (per the datasheet) + load current...

Load current = load voltage / load resistance.
