LMH6559: LMH6559 Available for new designs?

Part Number: LMH6559

Under the  packaging information the first listing for a LMH6559MA indicates NRND. This is only for the first listing, not the remaining listings. I want to use a LMH6559 for a new design. Is this a valid choice? If not is there a replacement?

  • Hi Arthur,

all other parts are labelled "Active". And "Active" means: "Product device recommended for new designs."

  • Hi Authur,

The LMH6559 is from a time before we had RoHS "Green" device packaging.

To distinguish the new lead-free packaged devices from the old Pb plated, the "/NOPB" suffix was added.

The die and electrical specifications are the same, but the package material, lead frame and lead plating are different to meet the RoHS requirements.

The "leaded" versions were quietly obsoleted, replaced by the "/NOPB" versions.

Some selected "leaded" devices were still made available for customers in certain industries/applications where they could not switch to the /NOPB versions due to process flows, certifications or industry requirements.

SO in this case, there must not be enough "leaded" customers to justify the "leaded" version version, so just *that package version* is being obsoleted.

So the replacement is the LMH6559MA/NOPB, just as the table shows.

As long as your manufacturing flows can handle the slightly higher re-flow times, then the "new" /NOPB device will drop right in.
