LM2902-N: LM2902-N versus LM2902

Hi,

I'm trying to compare LM2902 and LM2902-N components and I don't see much difference between them although the price per unit displayed on TI web site is quite different ($0.08 vs $0.35).

LM2902 is much cheaper than LM2902-N yet a brief comparison displayed on the Web site when selecting both products and clicking on "compare" button shows that LM2902 has a higher output current. Apart from that, differences seem to be very tight. I want to know if we can safely use LM2902 in production and for now I see no reason to keep LM2902-N as we use it in quite basic application.

So I guess LM2902-N has a real big advantage over LM2902 to justify its comparatively high price, but what is it ? Then I could decide wether we need this specific feature or not.

    the LM2902-N is the original design from National Semiconductors. The LM2902 is a clone from TI.

    The datasheet of LM2902-N shows many more figures and diagramms. So, a lot more data is specified for the LM2902-N.

    A remarkable difference can also be seen in the "absolute maximum ratings": For the LM2902-N a maximum input current for negative input voltages is specified. For the LM2902 there's no such specification.

    Kai is correct that the LM2902-N device comes from National Semiconductor and the LM2902 comes from TI. The two devices are functionally equivalent, so the LM2902-N does not have any special features that the LM2902 lacks. You can use the devices interchangeably.
