LM5056A: Replacement of MMBT 3904 specified by LM5056A data sheet

Hi DDdoor,

the current switching scheme of LM5056 compensates for some production tolerances of transistor. But if the transistor is too different, the precision of temperature measurement will suffer. So, I would not take a different transistor but would take the MMBT3904 from a different manufacturer. Mouser has millions of them in stock...

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments. This device was designed to operate with the MMBT3904. I will check to see if our designers have an alternative they might recommend, but we then cannot guarantee that the temperature measurement will be as good as with the MMBT3904. Aside from finding an alternative, I am not sure what supplier you are purchasing from, but digikey and mouser both have several million mmbt3904 in stock and immediately available.
