OPA381: Using 6V supply.

Hi!

I'm trying to make some optical head with diode laser and OPA381 trans-impedance amplifier. Parameters of laser diode direct me to use 6v supply.

Is it safe to apply it to OPA381 without any sufficient degradation of its parameters, however in datasheet its regular Vs value is limited to 5.5v?

Since OPA381 Absolute Maximum supply voltage is 7V (see below), operating it on 6V supply is safe. However, since all the final tests are conducted under 2.7V to 5.5V supply voltage, at Vs=6V some of the parameters may not meet the max/min limits specified in the datasheet.

There are no specific parameters that may not meet datasheet limits under Vs=6V since most of them follow Normal Gaussian distribution; these will vary from unit to unit. Having said that, most parameters will still be within the datasheet limits and those that are outside will for most parts continue follow linear shift shown between 2.7V<Vs<5.5V – no over the cliff characteristics.
