OPA827: NC pin connection

Part Number: OPA827

Hi Sir

I am making a PCB

For better grounding, can I connect all NC pins to GND?

Regards

Ben

  • Hi Ben,

unless the datasheet explicitely recommends to connect these pins to GND, I wouldn't do that. Grounding these pins can increase the stray capacitances and leakage currents.

  • Hi Ben,

The OPA827 NC pins 1, 5 and 8 do not connect to anything internal to the device so connecting them to ground will not result in better grounding. It is better to not connect them to ground for the reasons that Kai mentioned.

  • Hi Ben,

Did this take care of your OPA827 NC pin question? If so, please close this e2e inquiry.

  • Hi Kai

Thanks for brief but exact description!
What I would like to do is grounded flood all NC pin to reduce the constraint of GND pin, moving decoupling capacitor closer to the device

I will not take grounding the NC pin for granted from now on, even NC denotes no internal connection
