Hello All,

I would like to understand that how unstability or oscillations at the output of OPAMP causes heating of device?

    Are you saying that you are observing higher temperature on OPA171-Q1 when the output is unstable?

    If the output load is capacitive then the output current to the load capacitor will be higher when oscillating so that could increase OPA171 temperature. A large capacitive load also affects stability making oscillation more likely.

    Yes, i see 200KHz 200mV oscillations on the output of OPA171. It is also correct that i am driving capacitive load and due to which opamp is unstable. when i introduced 47 ohm resistor at the output of OPA171 then oscillations were vanished and temperature was down to normal room temperature.

    measure the supply current of OPA171 during oscillation and you will see the cause of heating...
