LM339A: Can it be powered by +/- asymmetric power supply?

Genius 3870 points
Part Number: LM339A

Hi,

we use LM339A as comparator under +/- power supply. there are two situations we need to confirm.

(1) V+ = +5.3V and V- = -5.3V

(2) V+ = +18.5V and V- = -5.3V

Coudl work noramlly under these power supply? If it can, what is the input voltage range and Vout High/Low range?

As in datasheet, the efffective Vin is 0~VCC-2V.

Thanks!

  • Hi Yi,

the recommended common mode input voltage range translates to

    (1) -5.3V...+3.3V

    (2) -5.3V...+16.5V

    in your application.

Vout_low would also be -5.3V. Vout_high depends on the supply voltage of the pull-up resistor. The pull-up's supply voltage should be no higher than +30V - 5.3V = +24.7V.
