TRF37D73: Part traceability

Part Number: TRF37D73

Hello, my name is Gabriel and I'm inquiring about this component to assess a possible future purchase.

I'd like to ask the following questions:

- Despite this being a COTS device is it possible to obtain any kind of traceability, including date codes?

- Is it possible to assure all the components are from the same lot upon order? If not, what is the maximum number of lots the ordered components may be from?

- Is there any version of the same component that has any kind of qualification superior to a COTS device? (ex: automotive, radiation hardened, space qualified, etc...).

Thank you and best regards,

Gabriel

  • Hi Gabriel,

The codes printed on top of the device as well as the order slip provide traceability.

I know there is no way to assure all components are from the same source upon order because they are sourced from multiple manufacturing facilities sometimes. I am not sure if there is a certain quantity that can be ordered to avoid this or if this part comes from from the same location. I will try to find someone who can confirm this.

What you are referring to as COTS, I am understanding as our catalog parts. This part does not appear to be available in any other ratings.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you for the clarifications Karan.

If you discover any more relevant information regarding the lots and quantities, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Gabriel

  • Hi Gabriel,

Can I know more as to why you want to be able to source everything from one lot order? I have learned it may be possible but what is your reasoning?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Karan,

I work for TEKEVER, in Portugal. We are developing an SDR application for a satellite.

This is a New Space program and comprises the use of COTS devices, these components will undergo through an upscreening campaign we are conducting with the help of a 3rd party.

To be honest the product is already pretty much completed, most of components except for passives are COTS, we are now going for the EQM phase and for the ongoing qualification some components we have, have become obsolete, so this RF amplifier solution would be a direct substitute for the obsolete amplifier in our already completed design.

Since we are working with ESA on this project, traceability and same lot components would increase their confidence in the product, thus my inquiry.

    Best regards,

    Gabriel

  • Hi Gabriel,

This is the response I got from the quality engineer.
We cannot guarantee that a shipment of parts will be from the same lot. The lot information and date code are available on the TI label, but there are sometimes multiple lots within one reel.

    Thanks!
