OPA2227: About chromate conversion coating

Part Number: OPA2227

Please tell me about the following questions.

I confirmed RoHS status in Material content by TI web site. Target IC's
RoHS status was Y.
Is there any chromate conversion coating in the target product?
(If yes, please submit a RoHS compliant evidence of the process)

Target IC(Part No):
OPA2227UA/2K5
ADS1255IDBT
BUF634T
OPA227U/2K5
OPA544T

  • Kamijo-san,

Information such as that you are requesting is not something that we have direct access to here in Applications Engineering. Therefore, I have to reach out to other groups in TI for such information. I am in the process in doing that, but note it may be a few days before I will have made the correct contacts. Because of this my next response may be delayed.

Please note that only the OPA2227UA/2K5, and OPA227U/2K5 and OPA544T are Precision Amplifier products. The ADS1255IDBT is a converter product and BUF634T is a High Speed Amplifier product belonging to other TI product lines. I will try to obtain the information for all the devices listed, but what I may be able to provide might be limited to the Precision Amplifier products.

  • Thomas-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
    I understand.
    Waiting for a reply.

  • Hello Kamijo,

I have been in contact with our Packaging Engineering department regarding your inquiry about TI's use of chromate conversion processes. Here is the response I received:

Checking the www.ti.com/productcontent tool for the products listed will show the material content for these devices do not contain any known chromate materials.  My question back to this customer is why are they asking?  If there is a hexavalent chromium concern (one of the EU RoHS banned substances), this is not used in TI IC products.  If there is some sort of driver for chromate conversion coating in the target product outside of this, then this needs to be understood for any further response.

Does this answer your questions? If so, please close this e2e conversation.

    Regards, Thomas
