DRV595: DRV595 higher power version or alternate TI parts to drive a TEC?

I have been using the DRV595 to drive a TEC with success (4A, 12VDC) however I now need more current (up to 10A). Is there a higher current version of this IC or alternatively is there a similar driver which I can interface with external mosfets? Perhaps a monolithic high power H-Bridge IC? Like the DRV595 it would be ideal to drive the differential input single ended and run the driver at a minium of 400kHz in order to keep component size and electrical noise/ripple to a minimum for the TEC.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Hi Chris,

Are you planning on using the same 12VDC supply to power the IC? Is there any other important key features that you will need this new system to have?

Hi Robert,

yes it would be the same 12VDC supply (the TEC is rated up to 14VDC). The DRV595 circuit I designed closely follows the TI reference design though in this particular case a 12bit DAC provides the single ended input to IN+ while the IN- pin is biased to 3V. It works as required and only lacks the ability to provided higher currents up to 10A.

Hi Chris,

I forgot to ask if you know what the load's impedance is? I'm trying to narrow down our options. A lot of devices that are able to output higher power (thus higher current) tend to also have a higher load impedance as well as a minimum supply voltage.

the load (TEC) is 1.17 ohm

Hi Chris,

Adding to Yanming's comment, the TPA3255 can drive this device but the input control is an analog signal rather than a PWM input like the DRV595. It also can only get up to 600kHz switching frequency on the output FETs.
