The propagation delay from SDI to SDO would be limiting factor as the end of the chain SDI will be slightly delayed. The data sheet has a "Prop. Delay, SCK to SDO" spec that is 60ns maximum.
Sorry Mark, the that prop delay is not cumulative. I'll research this more.

If two devices are chainable and LMP7312 is chainable, then there is no hard limit at all. The more devices in the chain, the longer it takes to load the chain with data. Eventually the lump capacitance of too many clock loads on the SPI bus will need a buffer. That is a SPI clock line driver limitation not a chain limitation.
