PGA280: Missing SPI specifications / Datasheet update

Part Number: PGA280
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1259, ADS1259EVM-PDK

A previous topic discussed the SPI characteristics of the PGA280.  Unfortunately the specs mentioned are incomplete.  Specifically, the post failed to mention propagation delays for output data.  Please provide the min/max delays from SCLK to SDO.

Also why hasn't this data been published to the datasheet?  The post is from several years ago.

  • Hi John,

I will check with the systems/design engineering regarding the delays related to the SCLK to SDO timing for the PGA280.  One of the engineers involved in the older post from several years ago no longer works at TI.  I will check with the product line on the SPI specification and provide an update.

    Thank you and Best Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi John,

Unfortunately, I don't have available the specification for the max delay specifications related to the SCLK to SDO timing for the PGA280; beyond the SPI information on timing posted above.  If it is helpful, I could look into testing the SCLK to SDO timing delays PGA280 evaluation to provide a typical,

  • Yes please provide whatever information you can.  It is really surprising that this information hasn't been quantified before now.  It is also surprising that the datasheet hasn't been updated to reflect the information available in this post.  It doesn't really give me a lot of confidence in TI's processes.

    Regards,

    John

  • Hello John,

Performing a quick measurement on the ADS1259EVM-PDK (the evaluation board includes the PGA280+ADS1259 connected together), the typical delay time at DVDD=3.3-V: SCLK rising to (next) data valid on DOUT is approximately 13-ns.

I will ask again regarding the datasheet update; but it will take time before the datasheet is updated with a maximum/minimum specification.

    Thank you and Regards,

    Luis

  • I understand the datasheet takes some time to update, but the response I have gotten in the past on doing so has been ridiculous.  I have other requested changes that are 2+ years in getting updated.  I would like a firm commitment from TI on this one.

  • HI John,

I have escalated the request for the PGA280 SPI min/max timing datasheet specifications to management. The team needs re-visit/verify/characterize the timing on the bench of devices over different conditions on the missing timing parameters.  My expectation is that I will be able to provide specific answer on the expected schedule for datasheet completion by Monday.   I will contact you by email as well.

    Thank you,

    Best Regards,

    Luis
