OPA227: HA17741 opamp cross reference

Part Number: OPA227

Hi, I need a suptitude for a discontinued HA17741 opamp. I believe OPA227 would work (the HA17741 work at lower temperature than the standard 741 opamp). If this one is not 100% compatible, do you have a better match?

Thank you!

  • Hello Yannick,

It certainly appears that the OPA227 will meet or exceed all the electrical performance of the HA17741 and I do expect it would work nicely in your existing application. However, there is one difference between the two op amps and it has to do with the external offset null pins. They both have an external offset null function whose use is optional. The key difference between them is the HA17741 has the external potentiometer connected to V-, while the OPA227 has the external potentiometer connected to V+. If you are not using those offset nulling pins (1 & 5), then the OPA227 should drop right into your HA17741 board space.

Note that the TI product replacement tool shows many General Purpose and Precision Amplifier op amp replacements for the HA17741. You can see the find the list here:

  • That bomcross is definitely delivering options, none appear to be the OPA227?

The bomcross does show the Renesas HA17741 still available - not likely true.

  • Michael,

I expect that the bomcross doesn't include the OPA227 because of the difference in the offset null pin voltage that I mentioned. If the application has those pins floating, then OPA227 should play just fine.

  • Thank you ! The bomcross application of this website is very helpful.

I will check in my stock, I think I have some TL081ip somewhere ;-)
