OPA2140: About the unbalance supply operation of op amp

Hi,all

In order to save one supply, I plan to use the +5V and the -15V which are available,as the supply of opa2140/opa145. So i want to know whether there are some problems with this usage.In my design,the input signal is less than 1V and the maximum output is 3V. Looking forward your reply.

Hello Chao,

There should be no problem with using the OPA2140 or OPA2145 with asymmetric supplies as long as the input common-mode and the output voltage stays within its linear range as defined with respect to supplies. You can find the input common-mode voltage and output range in the datasheet.

OPA2140 -

input common mode range: (V-) - 0.1 to (V+) - 3.5. So for your supplies, that is -15.1V to 1.5V
output swing: (V-) + 0.2 to (V+) - 0.2. So for you supplies, that is -14.8V to 4.8V
