LM224: Recommendation Value for Bypass Capacitor

Part Number: LM224

Dear, Sir.

The datasheet describes the recommendation value for bypass capacitor is

0.1uF. However, my customer is considering to change to more smaller value

as 0.0088uF ~ 0.011uF.

1. Is it no problem to set such smaller value as bypass capacitor?

2. Please clarify the range of the recommendation value if you have.

Sakai-san,

The minimum bypass capacitance is zero. The LM224 does not require a capacitor.

Having a good phase margin (stability) in the application circuit is always a good idea. More so with no bypass capacitor.

Hi Hideyuki,

it depends a bit on the actual circuit and the load the LM224 sees at its output. Can you post a schematic? And what is the load connected to the output? Also, how is the LM224 powered? Linear voltage regulator, switcher or battery?
