LM358B: Inquire LM358B and LM258A Vos average value and standard deviation data

Part Number: LM358B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM258A,

Hi Sir,

May I know if you have LM358B and LM258A Vos average value and standard deviation data can share to us?

We would need the actual vale, not the plot in the datasheet.

Please feel free to contact me via mail if you have any concern.

Thank you.

    Hello Edward,

The Vos specification is a +/- value.  So, it can be inferred that the statistical average for this value will be around 0.  The typical value listed for the specification is understood to be equivalent to one standard deviation.

So for example, the LM358B would have an average offset of 0 with a standard deviation of +/- 3mV.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

So do you mean LM358B and LM258A have same average offset of 0 with a standard deviation of +/- 3mV?

Does LM358B have more performance benefit compare to LM258A?

    Thank you.

    Hello Edward,

The mean offset will trend toward 0.  The standard deviation is approximately equal to the typical offset voltage.  These are not equal for these two devices.  LM358B does have better offset than the LM258A.  Also note, that just because the mean offset is 0 does not mean most devices will have 0 offset.  More than likely, all devices will have some offset.  The typical offset lets you determine how much offset that will be.

    LM258A
