LMH6559: 1PPS signaling

Part Number: LMH6559
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BUF602

Hi team,

Can you confirm if the LMH6559MF supports the 1PPS signaling?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Renan

  • seems like overkill to use a 1750Mhz buffer for a 1 pulse per second signal - what edge rates?

  • Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your response.

They are doing a new product for their customer from customer schematics. And there is the LMH6559 connected to the clock signal which may be between 1Hz to 10MHz. This signal is only for debugging and production purposes. Yes, they know that LMH6559 is overkill for that but if it is suitable for 1Hz clock signal, they don't need to change it. Actually, at the moment they know only that this signal is from 1Hz to 10MHz and it is LVCMOS.

  • Well without any other details, probably ok - guesses,

    1. Probably DC coupled

2.Probably ground to +V swing (need to compare that to headroom given supplies on the buffer). Probably bipolar supplies, so swing to ground is fine. If single supply, will not be ok.

    3. edge rates are probably pretty fast, the LMH6559 can follow those

    4. no load information, be careful of directly driving parasitic C traces

    5. what in the signal is important - edge position? final value? (the LMH6559 likely has fine scale thermal tail which will drift off on a 1Hz rep rate, but only very small offset shifts)

    6. I suspect it is fine, the other part to know about is the BUF602
