INA293: Simultaneous drive of ADC and comparator

Part Number: INA293

Hi,

Good day. I hope everything is fine.

Our customer is designing around INA293 and they want to know if it would be allowed to use its output voltage to drive an ADC and a comparator simultaneously.

Thank you and stay safe always.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Cedrick,

This will depend on the load capacitance seen.  Most likely the ADC will require and RC filter but it depends on the ADC architect.  There is a TIPL that will describe this in more detail.  Normally with an isolation resistor in series you change the output load seen and can go above the capacitor with no isolation resistor.

With no isolation resistor the INA293 can drive a capacitance of 500pF as seen in the screenshot of the datasheet below.

  • Hi Cedrik,

to connect the output of INA293 to an ADC and to a comparator at the same time? Yes, you can do this. I would use two small series resistors at the output, one connecting the output to the ADC input (with the resistor as part of the charge kick back filter) and the other connecting the output to the comparator input.

    Can you show a schematic?
