OPA2172: Comparing TI parts to one another

Part Number: OPA2172
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2197, OPA1656

Hello everyone,

I started by looking for a substitute for Analog Devices ADA4610-2 in the VSSOP package. Digi-Key suggested OPA2172 but TI cross reference search came up with different options. Worse, the options were match type 'P' which means that I cannot use them in the existing design. Is there a way that I can compare parts of my choice, in this case OPA2172, with other TI parts (in this case the ones from the cross reference search)? If I start at the parametric search for general purpose opamps, the options are far too many to narrow down. Whereas all I want to make sure is that the part I know to be pin compatible is at least as good as the suggested cross reference (on the criteria that I value).

Thank you!

Saurabh

  • Hi Saurabh,

If you have a list of devices you want to compare from TI, you can search the part number located at the parametric search table, check the "compare" box, search for another device using the same method, check the "compare" box again. Once you have checked all devices you want to compare, click the red compare button. Please see below.

Search OPA2172 and check "compare" box.

Search for new device, OPA2197 and check the "compare" box. Before searching for a new device be sure to remove the search of the OPA2172 by clicking the "X" on the right of the search bar. Once you have checked all the devices click the red Compare button. After you click the red Compare button you will see a window pop up that looks like this.

Is this what you are looking for?

    Thank you,

  • Hi Tim, this is indeed what I am looking for but I am unable to generate the table comparing:

    OPA2172

    OPA2197

    OPA1656

When I search and check OPA2172, the compare button is gray and cannot be clicked. And when I hit 'X' at the search, all results disappear.

    Thank you,

    Saurabh

  • That is what the parametric match tool is for,

It has some errors here, OPA2172 is not a single, however if you go out to 20 results you should see plenty of close options. And you could enter the ADI part # in directly, this is more electrical parameter oriented - does not help you with pin compatible packages.

  • Hi Saurabh,

The search will go away when you hit the "X". But then once you search for another device and check the compare box the compare button should turn red.

Here are the three devices you would like to compare.

    Thank you,

    Tim Claycomb
