INA4180: INA4180A2 output load RC parameter recommendation

Part Number: INA4180

Hi Team,

My customer used the INA4180A2 and his output load R is 10ohm and C is 10pF, but will see the output signal is distortion.

His main power Fsw is 60kHZ to 80kHZ.

Do we have any better suggestion output R/C value can fix it ? or they need to use higher bandwidth device like INA4180A1?

Eddie

  • Hello Chao,

Thanks for reaching out on the forum.  10pF is pretty far from the maximum capacitance that can be placed on the output.  Additionally the 10Ω resistor would mitigate the capacitive loading.  As for the bandwidth, that part is rated above 80KHz for all variants. So the source of distortion seems as though may be stemming from something else.  How are you measuring the output?  Are you reading back from an ADC register or are you looking at the output on an oscilloscope.  With an ADC it is possible that you may need a buffer amplifier and appropriate charge bucket filter in between the INA4180 output and the ADC input to get a good reading.  If you are using an ADC, I would recommend looking at the following video to get some more details on how to design the connection to the ADC.  If you do not have an ADC on the output, I would check if the voltage at the INA4180 supply pin is stable.
