THS4521-HT: Power supply difference

Part Number: THS4521-HT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4521,

Hi Team,

The powersupply of THS4521 is having max supply of +5V but THS4521-HT/KGD is having only +3.3V. Can you please help with reason for degradation of operating supply.

Regards, Shinu Mathew.

  • Hi Shinu,

lower supply volage means less heat dissipation, not only with regard to the supply current of OPAmp (intrinsic self heating) but also and especially in combination with the connected load.

  • That is a bit odd?

These extended environmental range parts are usually done by a different group than the original development group, they may have had a specific down hole customer that only needed 3.3V operation. but,

    1. Working through the self heating junction rise, it only works out to 0.5deg for this low power part,

    2. There may have been a 210 deg degradation in some breakdown voltage that limited the max supply to 3.3V

    3. May have been a mistake.
