INA253-Q1: Can we use INA253 -Q1 for the lower side also and can we use the same IC for just on/off circuit of solenoid

Part Number: INA253-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA253, INA240

I have the application of the solenoid control circuit and the circuit can able to tell the status of the solenoid(open/close),is there any way to find the slow movement of the solenoid, faulty.

In my application i am using PWM controlled solenoids and Non PWM controlled solenoid(ON/OFF) with help of signal from DSP so all this circuit i need to use same  IC which can detect the movement of the plunger..and hall sensor based IC not required because of the space availability.

which  one is good either bidirectional current measurement and unidirectional current measurement for my application?

Iam using 24v solenoids

also you can suggest any IC whican cover all my requirement given above..

  • Shishod,

I also responded to your other post regarding my thoughts on the usability of INA253 here. If you want to use the same IC for both solenoids, I would recommend looking at INA240 and using an external shunt to make better use of the signal information and decrease error in the system. The INA240 also has the enhanced PWM rejection of the INA253, so this should help suppress artefacts from the common mode in your signal.

Regarding the ability to sense solenoid plunger movement/faults without an external sensor, this can be done, but is pretty involved. We have a great document discussing a proposed method on how to do this here. Let me know what questions you have.
