THS9000: THS9000 and THS9001 questions, bias current, EVM TR1 place holder

Part Number: THS9000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS9001,

Hello team,

What is different between THS9000 AND THS9001? Package is only difference?

How much current will draw through R(bias)? The information helps to select right resistor.

EVM has TR1 place holder. What is purpose of the TR1?

Best regards,

  • Hello Taketo,

    • There are slight differences in the devices that can be seen in the electrical characteristics table. Gain at 350MHz varies between 15dBm & 15.6dBm for example.
    • We don't have data on the current drawn through Rbias, however a 1/8W resistor is used for the EVM
    • Not much info as to why TR1 was added to the EVM, but I would imagine for greater control of Rbias value.

  • Hello Hasan-san,

    Thank you for the comment.

Regarding Rbias, figure 11 of THS9000 datasheet shows Is vs Rbias. I think it is typical curve. How much margin should we consider maximum current?

I couldn't find THS9000EVM users guide on the web, so could you please let me know what resistor value with 1/8W is on the EVM?

    Best regards,

  • Hello Taketo,

    • I don't have a definitive answer here. You can use a standard deviation of 1.6mA for R(BIAS) = 237 Ω, VS= 5V, 25C & 1mA for R(BIAS) = 237 Ω, VS= 5V, 25C.
    • BOM and pictures of the EVM layout can be found in the datasheet for each device. A 237-ohm resistor is used for R1 & TR1 is open.
