AMC1211-Q1: Regarding Spice model of AMC1211-Q1. As the parameters are same when compared to AMC1311B, Can I use AMC1311B instead of AMC1211?

Part Number: AMC1211-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1311

Hi,

As I am using AMC1211 in my hardware, I just want to simulate the effect of isolated amplifier in my circuit. Can anyone please provide me the Spice code/model of AMC1211?

If not available, please suggest me that I can use AMC1311B whose parameters are similar to AMC1211.

If I am supposed to use AMC1311B instead of AMC1211, what are the required changes that I should made in the spice code of AMC1311 which is already available in TI website?

Eagerly waiting for a solution...

Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Athieshkumar,

You can use the AMC1311 model and no changes should be required.

  • Hi Alex Smith,

Thanks for your information. Also Need to know delay (max) of Vin to Differential output (VoutP & VoutN) of AMC1311 for a DC bus voltage of 600Vdc

  • Hi Athieshkumar,

This is shown in 7.10 Switching Characteristics of the datasheet. Do you have a requirement for signal delay time?

  • Hi Alexander Smith,

Thanks for the information. I got it.

  • Hi Alexander Smith,

I still have one doubt in spice code of AMC1311.

Query 1: Shall I change .PARAM EG = { EGB }  and .PARAM TCGERR= {TCGERRB} since EGB & TCGERRB is referred to AMC1311B. If I change the parameter, It means am I actually using AMC1311B spice code?. Is this right way to choose the IC for simulation? Let me know how to proceed further.

Query 2: EG & TCEG parameters are same for AMC1311B & AMC1211 as shown in below image, So I changed the parameters mentioned in above spice model to .PARAM EG = { EGB }  and .PARAM TCGERR= {TCGERRB}. Please confirm the same to use this change in simulation.

  • Hi Athieshkumar T,

I would not recommend making changes to the simulation netlist, nor can I support any such changes.

  • Hi Alexander Smith,

Thanks for your Information regarding spice code change. But I have some constraints in my hardware results.

Query 1: When I look into the spice code, the parameters .PARAM EGB = { 0.0629519/100 }  and .PARAM TCGERRB= {-5E-6} were not used in entire spice model of AMC1311. What is the purpose of these parameters mentioned in spice code?

Query 2: So I thought of using above highlighted parameters in my simulation. As per your recommendation of not changing the simulation netlist, I verified While using spice code of AMC1311 directly and using the spice code by using the above parameters (EGB & TCERRB), the results are little bit changing. Can I proceed with changing of these two parameters which seems to be satisfies my hardware results?

    Thanks & Regards

  • These parameters ARE used in the model. Scroll down.

  • Hi Kai,

I have looked into spice code.as per your suggestion. Below are the findings.

    (1) TCGERRB parameter is not used in entire spice code. Shows only 1 finding which is highlighted in below image.

    (2) EGB parameter has used in equation. The comment mentioned in Line 268 for .PARAM EGB is for AMC1311B, but the .PARAM EG0 is initialized with EG0.

So, I need a conclusion that whether I can change the spice code or not. Please confirm the same.

    Thanks & Regards
