OPA2991: opa2991 OUTPUT question

Part Number: OPA2991

Hi team,

I see in datasheet as below:

why the output voltage only show to V+ -10V.

does that mean the output voltage can only reach to V+ -10V?  but spec of Vs=40V so it should reach +/-20V for output?

  • Hi Dane,

with a supply voltage of +/-20V and at 25°C the maximum output voltage is

    +20V at zero output current,

    +19V at 35mA output current,

    +18V at 65mA output current,

    +17V at 80mA output current,

    and so on.

The plot simply ends at +10V output voltage because the curve goes into short-circuit current condition for higher output currents which is far away from specified standard operation. But of course, the output voltage will furtherly decrease with furtherly increasing output current. Finally, when you short-circuit the output pin of OPA2991 to 0V, the static short-circuit current will flow.

  • Hi Kai,

what if my supply voltage: V+=5V; V-=-10V.

then what's the output range will it be. +/- 7.5V or -10~+5V? the latter one?

  • Hi Dane,

the output range will be -10V...+5V then:

+5V output voltage at zero output current,

+4V output voltage at 35mA output current,

    .

    .

    .

0V output voltage at static short-circuit output current.

    Kai

  • Hi Dane,

    Kai is correct.

    Thanks Kai!
