Hi there,

My customer is evaluating TLV7031, and he found that there were 2 input ranges in the datasheet.

Usually VCM defines the input range, what does the input voltage range mean here? Any difference?

    I should probably create a FAQ for this but here is the answer.  VCM is the switching threshold of the comparator.  In the EC table, we warrant a VCM range of VEE to VCC+0.1 as you have noted.  This means that we have characterized our device for switching threshold as low as VEE and as high as VCC+0.1.  Input range does not refer to the switching threshold.  This is simply the recommended operating range for each input independent of the switching threshold.  

    Please note this definition is comparator specific.  For amplifiers, VCM is the average of the voltage at the inverting and non-inverting inputs.  This is more applicable for amplifiers since negative feedback is commonly applied and the inputs are considered to have a virtual short between them as a result.
