AMC1302: AMC1302 - BLDC motor HV supply

Part Number: AMC1302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC3302

What is the maximum voltage of HV+ that can be used, when using AMC1302 in phase current measurement for BLDC motor current sensing application.

Can we use 20Khz PWM switching.

  • Hi Subramani,

The absolute maximum ratings of the device can be seen in table 6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings.

When doing in phase measurements, having a power supply for the high side of the device that tracks the phase measurement is necessary. This ensures that the input voltage is within the common-mode voltage range. If this is a challenge, I recommend looking at the AMC3302. This device has similar analog characteristics but includes and integrated DC/DC converter for powering the high side.

In terms of absolute voltage magnitude between the high side and the low side, that is defined by working voltage, which is 1500Vrms.
