OPA830: [OPA830] Query on Propagation delays

Part Number: OPA830

Hi team,

I was trying to use OPA830 for one of my applications and was willing to understand the transient performance for which I simulated the unity gain configuration for a square pulse as shown below.

I observed that the rising propagation delays are very different from the falling propagation delays.

Are there any other suggested amps that can give us better matching which may be needed for some applications?

Regards,

Manasa

  • Morning Manasa,

You will need to use the paperclip in the ribbon to insert pictures or files, TINA file preferred. I am guessing you are either slew limiting or clipping.,

  • Hi Michael,

I have attached the image below - apologies. I am using it with 5V supply and the input signal has a swing of 3.3V.

  • So is this measured or simulated

In any case it looks like you are doing a unity gain buffer with an input at 0V. That is fine for the input range but not the output range, All of these RRout devices need a little bit of headroom to operate - so essentially, at 0V input and transitioning up, you are open loop initially, then the loop has to close first giving your delay,

Here is a good discussion of this, and also that DC level shifting thing I put into the datasheet on page 20 was intended to fix this, we also sometimes put a small negative supply on the negative power pin to create headroom,

I also made this topic of first of a series of article over on planet analog,
