THS4304DBVEVM: THS4304

Part Number: THS4304DBVEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4304

Excuse me, is there a recommended circuit for THS4304 single power supply?
Are there any restrictions on single power supply?

  • Hi 武奇,

have you seen figure 54 of datasheet?

    Kai

  • I have seen this circuit diagram, but when it is powered by a single power supply, it seems that the circuit cannot be amplified, and  it can be amplified when powered by a dual power supply.

  • Hello 武奇,

The THS4304 is designed to be operated in a single supply while retaining functionality.  All of the figures present in the datasheet present data from a single supply configuration of +5V or +3V, often with a gain of 2V/V.  You may see the Application Information section on page 15 of the datasheet for more information on application and use cases.

Kai referenced an important figure (which you also found, Fig. 54).  The text above Figure 54 also asserts how the single supply configuration can be configured with no performance loss compared to the +/- 5V dual supply.

Could you elaborate on how you intend to use the THS4304, as well as how the single supply configuration has not worked for you?

    Best,

    Alec Saebeler

  • Hello,Michael:

I am using THS4304 for differential to single-ended conversion. According to the documents you provided, can THS4304 that was  powered by a single power supply use  for differential to single-ended conversion?

    Best Regards

  • Well Qi

The THS4304 is a very fast VFA device but is not RR output. In fact it requires about 1.1V headroom to each supply for correct operation, this means on 5V single supply, the output can only swing 1.1V to 3.9V. If your circuit and inputs try to go outside those limits it will clip and recover slowly
