Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01633, OPA197
Hi Sir
i saw TIDA-01633 use XTR305 to do PWM to 0-10V
If I use single power supply ,can I design PWM to 0-24V?
or you have better solution to do "PWM to 0-24V"
Thanks

HI Kaileh,
The XTR305 requires bipolar supply; it requires a minimum negative supply of V(-)=-5V.
The device can operate with assymetrical voltage supplies, for example, V(-)= -5V and V(+) = +24V.
However, the device will not operate properly with a single uni-polar supply.
Thank you and Regards,
Luis
Hi Kaileh,
In case the system does not allow for the bipolar supply, you could use an amplifier in the non-inverting configuration that supports a supply higher than >24V to gain up the PWM. The microcontroller will generate the PWM 3.3V, feed the PWM through a Nth order low pass RC filter (filter design depends on the ripple tolerance and PWM frequency), and gain up the filtered PWM signal to generate the ~24V output signal. For example, an amplifier like the OPA197 powered by a unipolar V(-)=0V and Vs > +24.5V supply, can provide approximately a +0.500V to +24V signal output, where the output may be limited to ~0.2V to ~+0.5V above ground depending on load conditions (may not reach zero volts unless a negative supply is provided).
If you require the signal to reach exact ~0V and +24V, you will still need to provide a negative supply of around (V-) < -0.5V and positive supply of (V+)> 24.5V to provide enough headroom to accommodate the OPA197 output swing.
Below is another general application note that provides a passive RC filter design for PWM to analog conversion, that you may find useful.
