THS4551: Vocm as output to feed PGA280/1

Part Number: THS4551
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA281, PGA280

Hello,

I wonder if it is feasible to use THS4551 Vocm pin as an output to feed the PGA281 Vocm input. Supposing Vocm would be Vcc/2

I understand from previous discussion here at forum, that Vocm at THS4551 is self-generated by 300k voltage divider and since PGA281 input is high impedance one, it is tempting to save one buffer.

Are there any Pros/Cons ?

Thanks for suggestions !

  • Well Robert, I have not yet found the Vcm description in the PGA280 datasheet, but yes if you want to set it to midsupply using the THS4551 internal divider, that might be ok - not super accurate, and be sure to add an external cap to cut the noise way down.
