LM211: Is this device an upgraded version of the LM311?

I thought the LM211PW was just a wider temperature range than LM311PW, but the DS shows some ABS MAX and Electrical Characteristic differences.

It looks like the LM211PW is an upgraded version of the LM311PW - not just the extended temp range.

Is this correct?

Are there any downsides to the device, vs the LM311?

Yes, the datasheet does not lie. The LM211 indeed has tighter test specifications.

The LM211 has a horrible downside that makes it unacceptable for many customers: a higher price.

The LM211 is specified tighter and has extended temp range but I cannot really comment further over internal design differences.

I will reach out offline to see how we can better support the customer's application needs.

So I will close out this post.
