INA280: INA280---Current sense amplifiers

Part Number: INA280

Hi team,

I got a question form customer that  is there any potential issue having INA280 (or similar current sense amplifier) connected to power part of the circuit (to VCM) but with +5V (Vs) disconnected? The application is permanently under voltage but in "Stand-by mode", the intention is to disconnect all unneccessary load (i.e. to remove also quilescent current of amplifier).

Best regards,

  • Hello Zhonghui,

The IB does change when VS = 0 see the screen shot below.  The floating of the Vs is not recommended due to parasitic of the board and the conditions of other pin it is not recommended.  To lower power it is recommended to connect to GND.  You will still have IB and IB changing do to changing Vsense as seen in the datasheet.
