TPA6211A1-Q1: Single ended application

Hello,

Is it possible to configure TPA6211A-Q1 as SE input and SE output application? SE input schematic is in datasheet but I don't see SE output application? Can the one of the output left floating?

Customer wants to get 2Vpp SE output from 2.86Vpp SE input. For gain setting, should they use 2x gain of Vo/Vi?

  • Hi Sam,

    This should be possible, although the output voltage would be half of the output voltage obtained in differential mode.
    Differential mode also helps a lot in terms of eliminating the noise coupling.
    Is my understanding correct that input voltage is lower than the output voltage? What is the load impedance that customer will use?

    Hi Sam,

    I would suggest to balance the amplifier external components. Place a dummy load (resistor) on the unused output (OUTN) on the board and also use the same component values as OUTP. Connect feedback fapacitor C4 from INP to OUTN and add another capacitor of the same value from INN to OUTP, as if it was connected to a BTL load.
    Doing this would help the device to operate as it would do in a conventional use case.

    I have seen oscillation issue when feedback capacitor is populated on unused input pin in SE input application.
