TAS2559: Sine wave generation function

Part Number: TAS2559
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2560, TAS2557

Hi Experts,

I got inquiry from our customer. It seems some Smart-amp devices have Sine-wave generation function. It means, those devices are able to output sine-wave without input-data easily in test-mode.

Regarding TAS2559/TAS2560 devices, does those devices have similar Sine-wave generation function in test mode?

As far as I checked datasheet, I could not find it. Could you clarify it, please?

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Miyazaki-san,

We are nearly finishing the development of the waveform storage in the TAS2560 version and will release it shortly. The TAS2560 will use the processor or computer to send waveforms via I2S.
We are developing a new PurePath Console 3(PPC3) to implement the waveform storage in the SmartAmps, but I am not sure if TAS2559 can use this function. Let me investigate this and will come back soon with further information.

  • Hi Miyazaki-san,

I have investigated about TAS2559. Unfortunately, we are just developing a new PurePath Console 3 (PPC3) to implement the waveform storage in the TAS2557. When the next generation SmartAmps release, we will focus on making algorithms for auto-braking in other devices.
You could consider using the TAS2557 for now.

  • Hi José,

    Thanks for your response.
Please allow me to clarify it a little bit again.
I understand that TAS2559/TAS2560 are not able to output “Sine-wave” by themselves. It mean, to output sine-wave, we need to use PPC3 (sending waveforms via I2S) or need to use .processor (in this case, also sending waveforms via I2S).
    Is that correct?

  • Hi Takayuki,

The TAS2560 will need to use a processor or computer to send waveforms via I2S. But this function is not ready yet.
Unfortunately, TAS2559 won't support the waveform storage and the function to send waveforms via I2S. As I mentioned waveform storage is being developed only for the TAS2557.
