TAS2505: BOOSTXL-AUDIO

Part Number: TAS2505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA301, , TPA2010D1, TPA2011D1, TPA2028D1

Hi

Our customer are considering the reference design as below. And they would like to replace the Audio amp which is TPA301 to TAS2505.

http://www.ti.com/tool/boostxl-audio?keyMatch=BOOSTXL-AUDIO&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

Is that possible? If the device is not recommended,is there any recommendation?

(The requirement is "mono" and "4ohm 2W speaker" and "integrated volume control")

  • Hi K.Hamomoto-san,

I think the TAS2505 is an overkill in this application.
You could have a look at the following devices: TPA2011D1 and TPA2010D1. They are Class-D Audio Amplifiers and you could use the resistor network to set the volume. But I recommend you using a pre-amplifier to make the volume control, so you should place it before the Class-D Amplifier.
Another option will be TPA2028D1 is a Class-D Audio Amplifier with Gain Control mediant I2C.
Please let me know your thoughts.

  • Hi Jose-san,

Thank you. I will suggest TPA2028 and TPA2011/10 to the customer.
