TAS5711: Interchannel Delay Register question for TAS5711

Hi team,

The customer would like to get if the Interchannel Delay Register  that is on  page 51 of the datasheet

impacts on audio performance. If it can impact on audio performance, how to impact?

  • Hi Mickey,
    D clock is around 196.6 MHz. Interchannel Delay is used for improving harmonic distortion and cross-talk between adjacent channels. The default values on the chip work best on our characterization board. The values vary with different layout but in general default values work best.
    We recommend to follow the Interchannel Delay (ICD) settings we specify in our datasheet for each modulation type. These values are tested and offer a very good overall THD and crosstalk performance.

    Maximum positive delay - Maximum negative delay = (31- -32)*4DCLK= just 1.28us

    It is for adjust the different PCB layout ? It is not for adjust the different BQ setting's delay between P&N channels?

    I think it's more for the device internal design instead of PCB layout. So please just use the recommended setting for AD or BD modulation mode.
