TPA3255: Recommended Power Supply Design

Part Number: TPA3255

Hi,

I am not very well versed in high power PSU design. I want to fully utilize the capabilities of the TPA3255 (600W in PBTL mode). Is there a recommended PSU design for this chip? I assume it will be close to about 1000W in total power. In the end I would need 50V (PVDD, capable of handling the bulk of the power), 12V (mid power supply), and +/-15V (pre-amp power). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dean Woosley

  • Dean,

We usually rely on the bulk caps for peak current and with the efficiency of class-D, 1000W is not required. I would recommend something like our 600W design from a few years ago. I've attached the guide on it.

Alternatively we use these for our Demo's:

The output can be adjusted up to 50V which should work nicely.

GVDD and pre-amp supplies are low current and can be derived from the main PVDD supply. Please see our EVM design for appropriate LDOs:
