THS3120EVM gerber files, layout consideration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS3120EVM

Hi, I need the THS3120EVM gerber files, so maybe I'll have an answer to my question:

to minimize the parasitic capacitance at input/output pins, the datasheet recommended to open a window in ground and power plane under this pins. But what is the suggested dimension of this windows? The near termination resistor must be involved? And the feedback path?

  • Hello Matteo,

I am sorry we missed this question.  I cannot find the GERBER files for that evaluation board.  Normally we recommend that the ground plane opening be at least 2x the size of the I/O pad and the cut out should extend in length to the mid point of the termination resistor.

The ground plane cut outs are always a compromise because the ground plane helps to remove heat from the deivice and also, ground plane cut outs increase inductance on the i/O lines which can reduce bandwidth.
