required power supply voltage for OPA602

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA602

Dear friend,

I have a question about required power supply voltage for OPA602. according to the data sheet it states that Supply Voltage ±18VDC. And also they give electrical characteristic at VS = ±15VDC

I am curious about what kind of parameter change will happen when the supply voltage is about +/- 9 and also +/-12. Is there any significant change to the op amp parameter except output voltage swing?

Thank you!

  • Sampath,
The performance should not degrade too much since you are still quite far away from the minimum recommended supplies of +/-5V. As you noted the output swing will change. If you are looking at linearity (distortion) performance, then the more headroom you have the better the performance. The OPA602 typically swings around 2.1V from the rail. There are graphs in the datasheet that show only slight degradation of open loop gain and slew-rate with reduced supplies.
