I want to use THS7360 in my board design to make a 1:4 Video Amplifier. I am having one camera output that i want to show on four displays. These display will be 4-5 meter away from  the THS7360 board. Can this amplifier drive the 5 meter length RG179 cable? Is this IC suitable for this purpose?

    Hi Amit,

    Do you know the maximum frequency that needs support for the camera output? I think the maximum frequency support will determine whether the amplifier can drive the 5 meter length RG179 cable. If it is a CCTV camera output which usually has maximum frequency of 5-6MHz, then the amplifier should be able to drive the 5 meter length RG179 cable.

    Also, I don't think you can get a direct 1:4 video amplifier using the THS7360, because the amplifier can only drive two video lines on a single channel. You would need to cascade two video amplifiers, with the first video amplifier doing a 1:2 and the second doing a 2:4, in-order to achieve the 1:4 video amplifier. A better approach for your problem could be is to use 6dB gain in the 1:2 video amplifier (THS7364) and 6-dB gain in the 2:4 amplifier (OPA3693) as the driving stage, instead of a single 1:4 video amplifier (THS7360) with 15dB gain.

    Thanks for your kind reply. Now i will have to use THS7364 initally and then two of its output will be gievn as input to OPA3693. That will provide me four output of 6 dB gain. I am using Mountable type thermal imager camera and CCD camera. But now at this moment i am not sure about the frequency but i will let you know as soon i will go office.
