TLV170: TLV170/171/172 Reduced performance for full rail to rail input.

Part Number: TLV170
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV172, , TLV171

In the datasheets for tlv170, tlv171, tlv172 is mentioned that " The input can operate 100 mV below the negative rail and within 2 V of the positive rail for normal operation. Note that these devices can operate with a full rail-to-rail input 100 mV beyond the positive rail, but with reduced performance within 2 V of the positive rail."

What is mean under reduced performance in this case?

  • Hello,

When operating within 2V of the positive rail the offset voltage and drift will increase, the broadband noise and 1/f noise corner will increase, the open-loop gain, common-mode rejection, bandwidth and slew rate will decrease.  Some of this information is included in the application section of the TLV170 datasheet which you can compare with the specifications while operating within the recommended common-mode range in the main spec table.  I've included this information below for reference.
