VCA2615EVM: VCA2615 amplifier problem

Part Number: VCA2615EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: VCA2615,

We Ordered VCA2615EVM evaluation board (1590276) almost one month ago but when we tested it, it did not give good result to us, after a few days we tested and worked with that board, one time we suddenly pushed the VCA2615 chip on the board and then we got a something same our signal in the output, but the  output had very noisy and it had a huge fluctuation, also the gain amount was not same as the your document it gives less than 40dB in overall gain now when we want to test this board in our project every time we have to push the chip until to get a something in the output. the result of this board it is not acceptable. we guess maybe the board has a problem of Corse I  soldered the board again but it is not working.

  • Hi Amir,

    How are you?

    Thanks for using VCA2615 device.

We will look into this question and then contact with you very soon.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi Amir,

    How are you?

    Thanks for using VCA2615EVM.

From your message, at the beginning the device (on the EVM) might be working ok. Right?

However right now the device (on the EVM) is not working perfectly. Right?

Very sorry for this kind of issue happened.

When you connect that EVM to the power supplies,

could you please double check whether its Voltage and Current consumption?

Please check if these two are very stable (also not due to the current leakage) or not?

Please let us know when you have more questions.

Also we would let our team know about your issue as well.

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi,

It is not working actually. the voltage and current are stable. the voltage is fixed with +5/-5 and current for + part is around 110mA and for negative part is 40mA.

    this is evaluation board, Right?

it has to work. I think evaluation boards was tested and they do not need to troubleshooting with costumer. Right?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Amir,

    How are you?

Thanks for using VCA2615EVM and let us know more details on your EVM.

We will continue to check more information and will contact with you soon.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Amir,

    How are you?

Thanks for giving us information about the voltages with +5V/-5V.

There are some other voltages needed to double check with you

since they are also very important and needed to be set up correctly.

Since we don't know what the detail connections in your side,

so it is very hard for us to understand the problem comes from the device or

    only the board itself.

Here are our EVM connections on our bench (example for you to try):

These connectors are using from EVM.

They are working on our bench and using our EVM here.

    1) Use JP2, +5V/GND/-5V voltages are connected.

    2) Use JP1, +5VDUT/GND voltages are connected.

    3) Use J7, set Vcntrl as 1.2V (as example).

    4) Use J8, set V_Clamp as 3.3V (as example).

    5) Use SW2, set FB4=Hi, VCAinSEL=Lo, FB3=Lo, FB2=Hi, FB1=Hi (as examples).

    6) Use SW1, set G1=Hi, G2=Lo, PDL=Hi, PDV=Hi, H/L=Lo (as examples).

    7) Input Signal (sine wave) is connected to J1 (by SMA).

    8) Output Signal (sine wave) is connected to J5 (by SMA).

Here is the detail plot showing you our pin connections.

When you try this example and your EVM still not working,

please send your email address to us.

Thank you very much of using VCA2615 device.

    Thank you again,

    Best regards,

    Chen
